Online Prolapse & Pessary Advice
Specialist online prolapse and pessary support across the UK and internationally
If you are living with pelvic organ prolapse, struggling with a pessary, considering whether a pessary might be right for you, or simply feel unsure about what to do next, a specialist online consultation can help.
At Wolds Holistic Health, we provide specialist online assessment, advice and individualised management for women with pelvic organ prolapse and those using, or considering using, a vaginal pessary.
Online appointments are available throughout the UK and internationally, giving you access to specialist prolapse and pessary advice wherever you live.
Specialist Pelvic Organ Prolapse Support
Pelvic organ prolapse can affect much more than the physical sensation of a vaginal bulge or heaviness. It can influence exercise, work, bowel and bladder function, sexual activity and confidence in everyday movement.
An online prolapse consultation gives you time to discuss your symptoms in detail, understand your prolapse and explore the factors that may be contributing to your symptoms.
Depending on your individual needs, we may discuss:
Pelvic floor rehabilitation
Pelvic pressure and heaviness
Bladder and bowel symptoms
Constipation and straining
Exercise and physical activity
Lifting and pressure management
Returning to running or the gym
Sexual activity and prolapse
Menopause and vaginal health
Lifestyle and symptom-management strategies
Pessary options
Whether further investigation or an in-person assessment may be appropriate
Your treatment and advice will be individualised to you rather than based on a generic programme of pelvic floor exercises.
Online Pessary Advice & Support
You do not necessarily need to travel to one of our Yorkshire clinics to benefit from specialist pessary advice.
An online pessary consultation can be particularly useful if you already have a pessary and would like help managing it, have previously tried a pessary unsuccessfully, or would like to understand your options before arranging a fitting.
We can provide specialist advice about:
Different types and styles of vaginal pessary
Understanding why a pessary may be slipping or being expelled
Problems with comfort
Pessary self-management
Removal and reinsertion
Using a pessary for exercise or higher-impact activity
Vaginal health and pessary use
Combining pessary management with pelvic floor rehabilitation
Questions or concerns about an existing pessary
What to do if previous pessary fittings have been unsuccessful
Whether an in-person pessary assessment may be appropriate
If you are experiencing symptoms that require examination or medical assessment, we will advise you about the appropriate next steps.
Can a Pessary Be Fitted Online?
A new vaginal pessary cannot be physically fitted during an online consultation.
Pessary fitting requires an appropriate in-person assessment to establish the type and size of pessary that is suitable for you and to assess its comfort and effectiveness.
However, there is a great deal we can discuss online before or after a fitting.
For some women, an online consultation can help them understand their options before approaching a local service. For others, it provides specialist support when they already have a pessary but are experiencing difficulties or would like greater confidence with self-management.
If you would like to attend Wolds Holistic Health for an in-person prolapse assessment and pessary fitting, appointments are available at selected clinic locations in Yorkshire.
Who Is an Online Consultation Suitable For?
An online consultation may be helpful if:
You already use a pessary and have questions or difficulties
Previous pessary fittings have been unsuccessful
You want help becoming more confident with pessary self-management
Your prolapse is affecting exercise or everyday activities
You would like a specialist second opinion about conservative prolapse management
You cannot easily access specialist pelvic health physiotherapy where you live
You have been diagnosed with pelvic organ prolapse
You suspect you may have a prolapse and would like specialist advice
You are waiting for a gynaecology or pelvic health appointment
You want to understand conservative treatment options
You are considering trying a pessary
What Happens During an Online Appointment?
Your appointment begins with a detailed discussion of your symptoms, medical and gynaecological history, bladder and bowel function, physical activity and the effect that prolapse is having on your everyday life.
If you already use a pessary, we can discuss the type you have, how you manage it, what is working well and any problems you are experiencing.
We will then develop an individualised management plan and discuss whether you would benefit from further pelvic health physiotherapy, pessary support, an in-person assessment or referral to another healthcare professional.
